Use wire cutters to cut off the socket end of the cord. This will leave you with a long cord that will plug into the wall. Pull the two parts of the extension cord apart in the middle, separating about four inches. Strip each side of the cord with wire cutters, exposing the copper wire in. Squeeze the wire cutters on one side about an inch from the end. Pinch together the wire cutters, cut the plastic cords. Pull the cutter along the cord, pull the plastic off and leave the copper wire. Remove the pull string light socket. The cover should simply snap apart into two parts – the cover and the cover. Use a flat-head screwdriver, if needed, to help pry open socket.
