I ended up in using these Pine Wood Planks and V groove from Lowe’s. They were inexpensively pretty for 8 foot long pine planks and pack of six. I put them up in a pattern that staggered so that all the ends would not get lined up for a smoother finish and look. I added painters caulk in a thin line to the back side of the available each plank which then stuck it onto the ceiling. Then I added some nails in every couple feet in order to be able in securing it to the ceiling.

After the caulk was fully cure, then I primed and painted the wood planks in white. I added some crown molding in the dining area as a mean to cover up any uneven edges where the ceiling meets the walls. Then in the main kitchen space, I added just a small flat trim molding in the effort to cover up the edges. This is as the city scape cupboards had crown molding. It would have been very difficult to match up the crown molding on the cabinets and walls.
